The LookBook
2017-2018
In 2014, I had moved to Lakeland, FL to be closer to my grandparents after living in India. It's a large town in terms of land-area but, at the time, it was pretty limited in terms of diverse culture. I found myself struggling to fit in. After beginning my freelance career and being embraced as an artist at an art studio called The Working Artist in the downtown area, I started the LookBook.
Combining my love of fashion, and growing skills in media production and social media marketing, I teamed up with other young local artists, musicians, and designers to create @lkldLOOKBOOK. Our aim was to provide a safe space to explore a new sense of cultural identity, creativity, and express ourselves. Together, we built out multimedia content, collaborated with local boutiques and non-profits, and produced pop-up fashion shows for the whole community to enjoy.
